Here's the current scene: I'm sitting atop my bed, listening to a hip hop playlist on Spotify. My attempted editorial calendar spread out on my left, and my personal planner laying on my right. Laptop is in front of me on my lap. Tea in hand as I scratch my head using a pen with my other hand. It is currently 9:41 PM on a Friday night. I like to think this scene makes it look like I work hard, trying to be as close to a writer as possible, but I'm sitting here trying to figure out what the heck I'm doing.
As I sit here, scooping my brain out for some awesome ideas to put into my editorial calendar, I decided to reflect on the past week. What do I normally do? Did I do anything that I usually wouldn't do? Did I accomplish anything? Then I realized, I can barely recall what I did yesterday. Keep in mind, I've been totally sober. So I either have a really bad memory, or I've done nothing memorable, or both. I'm gonna go with both. I'm going to do my best right now, to recap the positives that happened this week, because I read that when you do that, it brings more motivation (which I really do need). Now, I'm going to set my tea down on my nightstand and let my overheating lamp keep it warm as I flip through the days of the week.
For starters, I do yoga every single day and I recall feeling extra accomplished when I finally took flight on a certain yoga pose that I nearly gave up on (which you should never do). Luckily, I didn't totally give up, or I wouldn't know now that I could do it. Lesson learned: practice and all is coming
I went on a mother-daughter date with my mom on Sunday afternoon, which was as splendid as it sounds. We had boba tea at our favorite local tea shop, and did a little bit of shopping. It was a fun day and it was definitely a highlight of my week.
One thing that I do remember clearly, is finishing one of my books I borrowed from the library. I stayed up until the wee little hours of the morning to finish it (I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this). I also remember tossing and turning in bed afterwards, trying to mend my heart from the close of the book. If you're wondering what book I'm talking about, it's called Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. Definitely recommend!! (detailed book review of this month's books coming soon)
I started another book the next day that I'm nearly halfway through already. But I can't seem to put that one down either. However, I did put it down to give my brain a rest and to do a few of my hobbies that I seem to be hoarding. Needlepoint, sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, bracelet making, and I even nearly-perfected my super soft cookie recipe! Now that I remember the cookies are long gone, I did workout most days this week. So the guilt of all my cookie baking I've done lately, has pretty much disappeared.
My best friend turned 20. So we celebrated by giving her an old fashioned at-home haircut. Which means I got to try my hand at haircutting with fabric shears!! It was truly exhilarating to snip off two pigtails off of her head, making her hair significantly shorter. I'm no cosmetologist, but her hair looks really good if I do say so myself.
And today, I slept until noon yet again, moved a few chores out of the way, devoured whatever groceries we had left from the week, and then went out with my sister and a couple of our friends. I helped one of them pick out a new camera for a trip. We ended the night out with a low-cost chicken bake, pizza, and hot dog combo dinner at Costco. There's something really satisfying about eating classic junk food at a low price in a huge store. Don't ask me what part makes it satisfying, it just is.
I didn't have much planned this week, but I am looking forward to my plans for next week! I promise I'll get better at these week re-caps. My lack of flow is cringe-worthy, but this is my first re-cap, and there'll be lots more to come. That being said, I think my tea is cold now...Yup, it's cold.
