Happy Valentine's Day to all of my friends, family, and all of you reading this! Obviously, by the title, I am going to write a tiny blog post about Valentine's Day. I admit, I used to be "anti-Valentine's Day." And you're probably thinking that the reason why I'm not anymore, is because I eventually found a boyfriend. Well, as much as I love Teagan, he is NOT the reason why I love valentine's day. What I get to see on this mushy gushy holiday is pure love. I enjoy seeing the cute couples out celebrating that love. The excessive number of couples out on dates may make you think that's what today is all about.
FALSE! Valentine's Day isn't to piss off everyone who is single (which is what I used to think in my mid-teenage years). What I celebrate with my boyfriend on this holiday is our love. In fact, we won't even be spending Valentine's together! I plan on spending today with people I love. That includes family and friends. So, Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, whether you're single or your lover isn't around for the special day, express your love for everyone else you get to see! Not really feeling it? Spend the day loving yourself! As I like to say (from my favorite TV show Parks and Recreation): "TREAT YO SELF!" We spend enough time hating certain things about ourselves, take time to appreciate the person you are, even if it sounds narcissistic. Go get yourself something good to eat, relax, pamper yourself, buy that outfit you feel absolutely great in and show it off to the world.
Love can be shown in many ways to others and to yourself. Don't sit at home and cry for your loneliness, but get up and love! It's pretty easy, and I promise you'll have more fun than cramming 3 pints of Ben & Jerry's into your stomach. You won't love yourself so much after that, I'm sure ;)
Happy Day of Love!
